The Colorado Weigh® program is an innovative, research-based weight loss program developed over the last four years by the renowned Center for Human Nutrition at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. It is based on the most up-to-date, clinically proven science available on obesity, nutrition and physical activity. Colorado Weigh® utilizes state of the art metabolic, behavioral and environmental assessments to customize a diet and exercise plan. Rather than focusing only on diet, the program emphasizes increased physical activity, which research shows to be essential to long-term sustained weight loss.

The Colorado Weigh® program consists of three unique 12-week curricula taught by Registered Dieticians (RD’s). The program classes occur in corporate meeting rooms, community centers and fitness facilities throughout the Denver metro area. Unlike other programs, the Colorado Weigh® program is structured similarly to a traditional course setting in which participants begin with the basics and build their knowledge over time.

The Colorado Weigh® program offers three distinct, progressive phases:

Phase I - Participants learn ways to make small changes to their lifestyle and to increase physical activity. Personal data such as resting metabolic rate (RMR), body mass index, medical and diet history are collected and analyzed to create a simple, yet comprehensive weight loss plan. In addition, participants are given step counters and are encouraged to increase activity progressively.

Phase II - Participants have a continued emphasis on weight loss and future success. Furthermore, there will be increased emphasis on physical activity. This will include a planned activity program.

Phase III - Participants will learn to find an “energy balance point” in order to sustain weight loss. Adjustment to new weight and activity level is proven to help maintain success.
